How do I get
started browsing the classified ads?
If you know what you are looking for the fastest way to find it is to do a
search. To do a search enter one or more keywords in the search bar at the
top of the page. The more keywords you enter the more narrow the search
results will be. If you are just browsing then choose a category on the
Home page that interests you. All of the subcategories for that Category
will then be displayed, simply choose a sub category, and all the ads that are
currently listed in that category will be displayed. 5 gallery listings
will be at the top, 10 featured items will be listed below that, followed by 20
basic listings.

Do I have to "Login"
to browse the classified categories?
No, Browsing is the most basic feature of the site and you do not have to login
to read the classifieds. Only login if you want to place an ad, update one
of your current ads, modify your account information or look at your circled
classified ads.

What is a circled classified ad?
When you are looking at a newspaper classified section occasionaly you may
circle some of the ads so that you can come back and look more carefully at them
later. LocalTraderOnline.com has a similar feature that will allow you to "circle"
given classified ads so that you can look at them at a later time. To do
this, find a classified ad that you would like to circle and click on the "Circle
Classified in My Classifieds" link. Once you have circled a
couple of ads you can view those later by logging into your account and clicking
on the "Circled Ads" link.

What is a User Account?
Its a membership to LocalTraderOnline.com, giving you the ability to place,
update, and delete classified ads, 24 hours of the day, 7 days of the week, as
well as maintaining any personal information within the user account and viewing
circled ads. Setting up a user Account is FREE.

What about the Newsletter?
LocalTraderOnline.com has a newsletter that will be made available to all users.
The newsletter will be used to inform about any upcoming additions or changes to
the site.

How do I set up a User Account?
Setting up a user account is very simple. It doesn't cost anything. Click on the
"Sell" link in located at the bottom of
every page. Click on the "Register" button and fill out the form
with your account information. This account information will be your contact
information that will be displayed with your online classified ads. You will
have the option of not displaying your last name, and your email address will _never_ be
revealed. You will be asked to include an email address and to come up
with a password between 6 and 20 characters.

What is a Basic listing?
A Basic Listing is a Free classified ad. A free ad does not contain any
pictures, gallery options, feature listing options, bold, highlight or a
subtitle.

What is a Gallery listing?
A gallery listing is displayed at the top of the listings page. Each gallery
listing has a minimum of one picture associated with it and a thumbnail of the
first picture will be used for displaying the listing at the top of the page.
Only a thumbnail will be displayed in a gallery listing. The title of the
listing will be used as the alternate text. Only 5 Gallery listings will
be displayed at any given time and each of those will be displayed at random.

What is a Featured listing?
A featured listing is exactly like a basic listing except for it has a minimum
of one picture associated with it. A thumbnail of the first picture is used in
the in the listing itself. Only 10 featured listings will be displayed at any
given time and each of those will be displayed at random.

listing?
A home page featured listing is a listing that is displayed on the home page of
LocalTraderOnline.com. Only the title of the listing will be displayed. Only 5
Home Page Featured listings will be displayed at any given time and each of
those will be displayed at random.

I have
forgotten my password, Can I get another one?
Yes, from the "Login" page displayed you will see the "Forgot
your Password" link. Type in your user ID in the text box and then Click
the Send button. You will then be emailed a new password to the email address
that is associated with your account.

How do
I choose the right category to place my classified ad?
If you are not sure of where to list your item you may want to go to our site
map. Here is where we have our complete index of all categories and their
prospective sub categories. From here you can get the best idea of where an item
would be found in the classifieds. You can also do a search for the item
that you are selling and see where others have placed their classified.

How do I review my user
account information?
Click on "sell" at the bottom of any page. Login to your account,
and click on the "Account Information" link. This will display
all your user information, as well as give you the opportunity to change it.

What is my user ID?
Your user id is the user name you used when you first created your user account.

How do I get a password?
You are asked to come up with your own password, something that will be easy for
you to remember but hard for others to figure out. Try to create a password with
a minimum of one number. Your password should be 6 to 32 characters in length.
You can use numbers or letters but no spaces or special characters.

How are classified ads
organized on the site?
Classified ads are organized into a list of Main Categories with many
subcategories. Similar to what you see in traditional Newsprint in a daily paper
or weekly trade publications.

When do I need to "Login"?
You only need to login in if you wish to place a classified ad, edit existing
classified ads, update your current account information or view your circled
classified ads.

Why
is it important to include a Detailed Title and Description with my ad?
The title and description are consistent for all categories and are used for
displaying results. The title is also used for displaying in the search results.
People are more likely to respond to your ad if it is properly described in the
title and if they have a complete description of what you are offering. Provide
sufficient facts and details, how old, what the condition is, etc.. Also keep in
mind that the Title and Description fields are what are searched for the search.
Adding a subtitle can only increase your exposure by giving viewers a better
description of your item. The subtitle is also used in search results.

How long will my
ad run on LocalTraderOnline.com?
All Basic and Premium classified ads can run indefinitely. Every 7 days
you will receive an email reminder for you to renew or delete based upon the
status of the item you have advertised. This helps us to keep our classified
content current. Within 48 hours of this email, if you haven't responded, the ad
will automatically be deleted.

How soon will my classified
ad appear?
Your classified ad will display immediately as soon as payment has been received.
Typically this will happen instantly. However currently we are using
Paypal to process our payments and there are instances where a payment could
take several days to clear. Once your payment has cleared your ad will
automatically be made active.

What do I do if
my item sells before my ad expires?
Login to your user account and delete the ad that has the item you have sold.

If
I have a current classified ad and would like to make changes to that ad, is
that possible?
Yes, simply login to your user account, click on "My classified ads"
and find the ad you wish to make the changes to and click on "Modify
Listing" icon. Your listing will be placed in the editor and you can
change any aspect you wish at this point. Keep in mind however that if you
ad an option that it does not currently have, charges may apply.

What file
format must I use for uploading my photos?
The photos that you upload to the website must be in the .jpg or .png file
format. If you have any other format than this, you can check our photo
tutorials out, on how to prepare your photo for uploading to our site.

contact information will be displayed with my classified ad?
The seller's first name (last name is optional), and contact home number. Your
Email address will be hidden.

happens if I upload a picture and I get a "Picture is too big", your
file is too large?
The maximum picture size is 2 Megabytes. If you picture is larger than
that please consult our photo tutorial before you upload.

How do I contact to seller?
You can contact the seller by phone as well as email. One of the main advantages
of the internet is email. This form of communication allows you to respond to an
ad without calling and playing phone tag. If you wish to find out more
information about a given classified ad, simply email the seller and ask any
questions.

How do I sell my item?
Choosing the right category is very important. Post your ad in the most
appropriate and specific category so potential buyers will see your ad when they
are browsing a category or searching. When it comes to selling an item in the
classifieds, what attracts most buyers is the information given about an item.
List as many facts about the item, do not neglect the Title. All of the
categories have a title, use as many key words as you can think of while keeping
your listing readable. Don't spam your listing with a bunch of keywords
that will only confuse a viewer when trying to read your ad. For example use
something like "1968 Chevy Camaro", or "Oak Chairs and Tables"
in the title. In the description, be sure to use key words and phrases
that relate to your item. The Title and the Description both will use key words
and phrases in order to perform a search. The cost to place a photo with your ad
is very minimal. A picture always helps with selling your item. Also think about
including a subtitle. The subtitle is displayed in the listing and will
give you more real estate to describe your merchandise.
